When I was starting freelance, I took the easy way and went with Squarespace, because I wanted to iterate on the copy quickly.

That neither looked good nor felt good, plus it was expensive.

After getting frustrated with the old setup, I used AI to build myself a custom website using the Cloudflare SaaS stack. It deploys a Next.js app to Cloudflare and uses their CDN for the frontend, workers for the backend, and D1 for the database.

And best of all, it's completely free. Minus the credits I spent building it.

I also created a short script that pulls all my emails from Kit into the website and makes them searchable, and I added a subscribe button that adds people to my Kit list.

Not bad for a few hours of work.
